Bucknell at a Glance
• Bucknell heads to Annapolis, Md. for the annual Navy Classic on Saturday. 20 Bison wrestlers are set to compete at the 12-team event.
• The Bison opened their season with a 30-6 loss to 11th-ranked Oklahoma State at Sojka Pavilion last weekend. Bucknell took on nine ranked wrestlers last Saturday, and the dual was highlighted by Darren Miller's upset over the nation's 10th-ranked wrestler at 141 pounds as well as Nick Delp's decisive win at 157 pounds.
• Both Miller and Delp enter the weekend in the national rankings. Miller comes in ranked No. 17 by FloWrestling and No. 23 in the Intermat rankings. Delp received an honorable mention by FloWrestling and is ranked No. 28 by Wrestlestat.
• Miller was named EIWA Wrestler of the Week on Monday following his performance in the Oklahoma State dual.
• The Bison are coming off a 12-6 (7-3 EIWA) 2021-22 season. Bucknell placed four on the podium at the 2022 EIWA Championships, two of which (Miller, Delp) return for the 2022-23 season. Bucknell has six returning EIWA placewinners overall, and Miller is the team's lone returning NCAA qualifier, earning an automatic bid at 133 pounds in 2021.
• Bucknell welcomed nine newcomers to the team this season after losing six to graduation in the spring.
• Bucknell's grueling 2022-23 schedule includes trips to the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational and the Southern Scuffle. In dual action, the Bison face three ranked teams from the preseason top 25: Oklahoma State (7), Princeton (12), and Lehigh (21).
• Head coach Dan Wirnsberger is in his 18th season at the helm of the Bucknell wrestling program. He's scored 142 career victories, good for second in school history; he was also tabbed as the 2015 EIWA Coach of the Year after the Bison placed third at the EIWA Championships and qualified four wrestlers for the NCAA Championships.
• Wirnsberger and Bob Ferraro, who led Bucknell to a 169-175-6 record from 1974 to 1997, are the program's only head coaches to reach the 100-win plateau.

Bucknell at the 2021 Navy Classic
• Bolstered by placing seven on the podium, Bucknell finished fourth at the 2021 Navy Classic.
• Then-senior Zach Hartman won the 165-pound title behind a 5-0 record. He registered bonus points for the Bison in all five of his victories, logging three pins, one technical fall and one major decision.
• The Bison also had two runners-up, including then-junior Darren Miller at 141.
• Kolby DePron (149) earned a third-place finish, while Kurt Phipps (133) and Logan Deacetis (184) each took fourth.
• With 115.5 points, Bucknell finished behind only Michigan State (129), Ohio (125.5) and host Navy (122) in the strong 12-team field. The Bison topped No. 18 Rutgers, EIWA program American and fellow Pennsylvania schools Bloomsburg, Edinboro and Lock Haven.
