- Bucknell returns to action after having had last weekend off. The Bison last played the weekend of November 5-6, going 2-1 to secure the third seed and a first-round bye.
- Bucknell, as the third seed, will play the winner of No. 6 Navy and No. 11 Mercyhurst, who are scheduled to play their first-round matchup on Friday at 1:40 p.m.
- The Bison played Mercyhurst once this season, defeating the Lakers (3-20, 0-10 MAWPC), 23-5. The 23 goals for the Bison were a season best, and featured ten different goal scorers for the Orange and Blue. Aleksa Stefanovic managed six of those goals, and the 23 goals were the most by the squad since a win over Johns Hopkins on October 12, 2019.
- In two games against Navy this season, Bucknell has lost both by just three goals combined. The two teams last met on Saturday, November 5 in Annapolis, an 8-6 Navy win. Navy also prevailed in the matchup in Lewisburg on Sunday, October 16 in sudden-death overtime, winning 10-9.
- A win over the weekend would give Head Coach John McBride his 200th career victory for the Orange and Blue, becoming just the second Bison coach to reach that mark after Bucknell Hall-of-Famer Dick Russell, who has 223 career victories.
- Bucknell has won its opener in five out of the six years of the CWPA Championships, falling for the first time in the opening game against Wagner, 7-8. Bucknell won its opening-round game against Mercyhurst to open the 2017 Tournament, 15-4, and has also faced Navy in the tournament on one occasion, taking a 7-5 win against the Mids in the 2019 semifinals en route to its first MAWPC Championship. Andu Vlasceanu scored twice in the victory over Navy, also adding an assist and a steal while Adrien Touzot stopped ten shots in the cage.
- The winner of Friday's game will advance to the semifinal round to player the winner of No. 2 seed George Washington and either Mount St. Mary's or Johns Hopkins.
