Deschler, Trapani Garner Patriot League Weekly Awards

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Emily Deschler and Lauren Trapani of the Bucknell women's cross country team each picked up weekly honors from the Patriot League, the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon. Deschler was named the Patriot League Female Runner of the Week, while Trapani was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week.
Deschler, a senior, won her first career race in cross country after claiming first at the Bison Open on Saturday, crossing the line in 17:48.7. Deschler continued her strong run of form after finishing last spring's cross country championships as an All-League Second Team selection, while also earning All-East honors in the 10k outdoors.
Trapani ran a strong race in her collegiate debut, finishing fifth overall as Bucknell's third runner to cross the line (17:59.8) behind senior Karly Forker. A native of nearby Turbotville, Pa., Trapani joined Bucknell in the fall after a decorated career at Warrior Run High School.
The Bucknell women's cross country team will now prepare for the Father Bede Invitational at Saint Francis (Pa.) on Saturday at 10 a.m.
