No. 15 Men's Water Polo Drops Two MAWPC Contests on Saturday

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The No. 15 Bucknell University men's water polo team dropped two MAWPC matchups to Fordham and Wagner on the first day of the Bucknell Invite. The Bison dropped a 9-13 decision to the Rams in the morning before falling to Wagner 11-14 in the afternoon at Kinney Natatorium.
Game One: Fordham 13, Bucknell 9.
The Rams used a 4-1 advantage in the second and third quarter to pull away from the Bison in this one in the MAWPC opener for both teams. After a high-scoring first quarter that saw the Rams take a 4-3 lead, the Rams scored three straight goals to take a four-goal lead, 7-4, midway through the second period.
Josh Yardley converted from five meters to pull Bucknell within three, 7-4, but another goal by the Rams ensured a four-goal cushion for the visitors entering the halftime break.
Fordham pulled away in the third, extending the lead to 11-4 en route to a 13-9 win. Jack Lewis led the Bison with three goals, while Andu Vlasceanu added three assists. Hasan Mogultay and Doruk Ozar each scored multiple goals for the Bison.

Game Two: Wagner 14, Bucknell 11
The Seahawks broke open a 4-4 tie after one period with a 4-0 run in the second quarter to pull away from Bucknell. The Bison would never pull within one goal the rest of the way as the Seahawks managed to take a 14-11 win.
The run by the Seahawks in the second gave Wagner an 8-4 advantage as Bucknell was held scoreless for the first six minutes of the second quarter. A goal by Walker Butler stopped the Seahawk run, but Wagner responded with a goal with 24 seconds to go in the half to restore a four-goal advantage, 9-5, at the half.
Bucknell managed to pull within two, 10-12 in the fourth after a goal by Yardley with 4:59 to go, but two more goals from the Seahawks in the final 2:30 of the game helped Wagner hold on for the victory.
Yardley led all scorers with a career-best six goals, while Matt Ryckman added two goals.
