Boati Motau Makes Olympic Debut on Saturday in Women's Water Polo

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Incoming first-year Boati Motau is set to make her Olympic debut for the South Africa women's water polo team on Saturday morning at 5:20 a.m. (ET) in Tokyo.
Motau, a native of Johannesburg, has been a part of the South African women's water polo setup since 2018, and will be making her senior Olympic debut against Spain on Saturday, July 24 to open up Group A competition.
Motau has taken part in 16 international matches for South Africa to date in her career, and plays on the wing primarily. South Africa is one of only six nations in the Olympics to qualify both its men's and women's water polo team.
The South African women's water polo team will have at least four group games in group A at the Olympics, with the top four in each group of five advancing to the quarterfinal round.
After its opener against Spain, South Africa takes on Canada on July 28, the Netherlands on July 30, and Australia on August 1 to conclude the preliminary round.
