Bucknell Men's Lacrosse Welcomes 12 Incoming Freshmen

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Head coach Frank Fedorjaka announced the Bucknell men's lacrosse team's 12-man incoming freshman class on Tuesday.

"I'm very excited this group of young men is joining our program this fall," Fedorjaka said. "These young men are very talented and have achieved considerable success on the field and in the classroom. They come from great programs and know what it takes to win. This class also has talent at every position. We are adding a great deal of athleticism."

The players hail from six different states: Connecticut (3), Maryland (3), New Jersey (2), New York (2), Colorado and Massachusetts. Every position group is represented, with four midfielders, three attackmen, two defensemen, two goalies and one faceoff specialist.

The Bison went 2-6 (1-5 Patriot League) during their 2021 campaign. In 2020, they were off to a 5-1 start and had just cracked the USILA Coaches' Poll when their season was cut short due to the COVID-19 public health threat. They graduated 10 following the 2021 season, including two-time All-Patriot League defenseman Bryant Boswell. They will also need to replace attackman Tommy Sopko, who started all 44 of Bucknell's games during his time in Lewisburg; despite his final two campaigns being abbreviated, he finished just three goals shy of cracking the school's top-10 list with 91 over the course of his career.

Before Bucknell: Lettered three times in lacrosse and three times in squash at St. Sebastian's School … in lacrosse, was named to the 2021 All-ISL Team after registering 35 goals and 23 assists … helped team win the 2018 MIAA title and the 2021 ISL crown … also played club lacrosse for Laxachusetts and Team New England.

Personal: Thomas Anthony Armstrong … born April 27, 2002 in Acton, Massachusetts … son of Donald and Lynn Armstrong … has three brothers: Matt, Dan and Paul.

Midfield, 5-9, 170, Bay Shore, N.Y., Chaminade

Before Bucknell: Four-year lacrosse letterwinner at Chaminade High School … made the all-league team … as a senior, helped team post a 9-2 record and reach the CHSAA title game, where it fell by one goal to St. Anthony's … served as team captain … lettered once in football … also played club lacrosse for the Long Island Express.

Personal: Benjamin Joseph Bonafede … born December 7, 2002 in Bay Shore, New York … son of Joseph and Mary Bonafede … has three older siblings: Joseph, Ella and Andrew … comes from a lacrosse family … Joseph played lacrosse at Princeton University … Ella played lacrosse at Duke University … Andrew is a member of the Duke University lacrosse team's class of 2022.

Blake Burchill
Faceoff, 5-8, 175, Southport, Conn., Brunswick School

Before Bucknell: Four-year lacrosse letterwinner at the Brunswick School … as a senior, helped the team finish fourth in the Inside Lacrosse national rankings after posting a 14-3 record … won 118 of 188 faceoffs (.628) and collected 41 ground balls that season … team went 44-6 during time in program … posted a faceoff percentage north of .600 as a freshman and sophomore while playing on a top-5 national team … lettered once in football … also played club lacrosse for Eclipse Lacrosse, helping team win the 2019 Naptown National Challenge.
