Rayven Sample to Compete at Paralympic Trials on Saturday Morning

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell track and field first year Rayven Sample is set to compete in the U.S. Paralympic Team Trials on Saturday morning.
The native of Jamestown, N.Y., will compete in the 400 on Saturday morning at 10:50 a.m. (CT) in his quest to move on to Tokyo for the Paralympic Games scheduled to begin on Tuesday, August 24.
Sample, who will compete under the T45 classification, will also compete against athletes who are a part of the T46 and T47 classifications on Saturday.

Sample enjoyed a solid debut season for the Orange and Blue on the track. At the Bucknell Tri-Meet on March 27, Sample recorded personal-best times in both the 200 (22.86) and the 400 (50.29), earning a first-place finish in the latter.
In his latest meet for the Orange and Blue, Sample competed in three events at the IC4A Championships, narrowly missing out on earning All-East accolades in the 4x400 relay, where he ran the opening leg. Sample also finished 21st in the 400 (50.74), and was a part of Bucknell's 13th-place 4x100 squad (44.82) at the meet.
Additionally, Sample also ran a leg on Bucknell's 4x400 team that captured first place at the Bucknell Quad on April 11.
Sample performed well at the Desert Challenge Games in Mesa, Arizona at the end of May, earning a first-place finish in the 400 while representing the United States (51.53), nearly five seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.
In this year's edition of the trials, qualifying athletes will be announced during the week instead of the traditional Sunday following the conclusion of the meet.
