The senior from Mount Carmel, Pa. is scheduled to compete at 7:45 on Thursday (ET), and will be in the second flight in the number 12 position after qualifying in the fifth spot at the NCAA East Preliminary meet in May (174-0).
The top eight finishers in each event will earn First Team All-American honors, while Second Team distinction is awarded to student-athletes who finish in spots 9-16.
Fiamoncini will be competing in her third NCAA Championships on Thursday after finishing ninth in 2019 and 13th in 2018 to earn Second Team honors. In three meets so far this season, Fiamoncini has managed to post a mark of 174-0 or higher in each, including breaking her own meet record at the Patriot League Championships with her best throw of the 2021 campaign (180-9) in earning gold.
A third All-American honor for Fiamoncini would put her in elite company in the Bucknell track and field record books. Bucknell Hall of Famer Thomas McLean is the only former Bison that has earned three All-American selections in track and field in the men's or women's program when he earned three straight All-American honors from 1975-1977 outdoors in the 800.
Fiamoncini's personal best at the NCAA Championships is 172-9, set at the meet in Austin, Texas in 2019. In 2018, Fiamoncini posted a mark of 163-8, which was also held at Hayward Field. Her personal-best mark of 184-5 set in her first-ever meet as a Bison in 2018 at the Jim Taylor Invitational ranks third in the field of 24 behind Marie-Therese Obst of Georgia (201-4) and Kylee Carter or Auburn (199-1).
