BRIDGEPORT, Pa. – The Bucknell University women's water polo team garnered four selections to the All-CWPA Conference Team, the organization announced on Wednesday morning.
Ally Furano, Paige Furano, and Kali Hyham each earned First Team selections, while Marcela Herrera earned a nod to the second team.
The Bison recorded their highest-ever finish at the CWPA Championships, falling in the championship game to No. 7 Michigan. Bucknell has now finished with three straight winning seasons, also earning a third-place showing at the CWPA Tournament in the 2019 season.
A. Furano earned First Team citations for the second straight season, while Hyham earned First Team accolades for the first time in her career. The duo also earned Honorable Mention All-American honors last season.
Both P. Furano and Herrera make their debuts on the All-Conference squad, and the three First Team picks and four overall selections both tie the program record. Bucknell also had three First Team selections on the CWPA Southern Division Championship team, and four overall in 2010 (Allison Carter, Kandis Canonica, Valentina Rozas, and Hallie Kennan).
The Bison have accumulated 64 wins over the past four years in large part to the four All-Conference selections.
A. Furano will graduate as the school's all-time leading goal scorer with 293 goals, 56 more than runner-up Meagan Gins. The native of Stamford, Conn. also owns the top two individual goal scoring seasons in program history (123, 2019) and 77 in the shortened 2020 season. A. Furano also ranks second in program history with 380 career points.
Hyham also made her mark in the Bucknell record books over her storied career. Hyham finished her career with 196 goals, the sixth-most in program history, and appears twice on Bucknell's single season ejections drawn list. Hyham's 41 goals this season were second on the team behind A. Furano.
P. Furano has emerged as a defensive specialist for the Bison, and earned CWPA Division I Player of the Week honors the week heading into the CWPA Tournament after combining for 13 steals over two games. The native of Stamford, Conn. also tied the single-game scoring record when she scored seven times in a win over No. 14 Harvard two years ago, and has started each game over the past two seasons.
Senior Herrera will graduate as one of Bucknell's most improved players, and has earned Superior recognition from the CWPA academically each of the last three seasons. Herrera has been a consistent starter in each of the past two seasons, and combined for seven assists against Gannon and Mercyhurst earlier this year.
