PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Bucknell women's tennis team made the trip to Temple on Saturday and fell 6-1 at the hands of the Owls. Bucknell picked up one win in doubles play, and Cayla Koch continued her outstanding season with another victory at No. 2 singles. It was just the second non-league game for the Bison, who moved to 3-3 overall with the loss.
Koch remained unbeaten in singles play this spring with a 7-6 (6), 6-1 victory over Temple junior Rine Nozaki. Koch is now 6-0 on the season, playing all of her matches on court two.
The senior also picked up her fourth doubles win of the season after teaming up with junior Daniela Bellini. The pair took the top doubles match with a 6-4 win over Stefaniya Surikova and Oleksandra Doroshenko. Koch and Bellini are 3-2 when playing together this season.
Bellini fell 6-2, 6-2 in the top singles spot, and after a hard-fought first set, rookie Tyne Miller suffered a 7-6 (6), 6-1 loss at No. 3 singles.
The Bison look to respond on Sunday when Navy pays a visit to Lewisburg for a 2 p.m. match. The Bison will be celebrating Senior Day on Sunday and will honor the careers of Koch, Sofia Ayuso and Rachel Carroll.
