LEWISBURG, Pa. – Head men's tennis coach Bruce Myers has announced the addition of sophomore transfer Nick Mueller to the roster ahead of the 2020-21 season. Mueller comes to Bucknell after spending his freshman season at Richmond.
Mueller finished his rookie season 4-3 while playing for the Spiders, including a 7-6 (5), 7-5 victory over The Citadel's Josiah Schainblatt in his lone spring singles match. Mueller went 3-3 during the fall of 2019.
Before Richmond, Mueller was rated fourth in Virginia out of John Handley High School and put together a 23-1 singles record during his sophomore season while leading the Judges to a runner-up finish in group 4A. Mueller spent his high school junior year at a tennis academy in Florida before returning to John Handley as a senior.
Mueller brings Bucknell's roster total to 11, and he's now one of five sophomores on the team, making it the largest class on the young and talented roster. His father, Paul Mueller, graduated from Bucknell in 1989.
The men's tennis team is scheduled to begin the spring season on Sunday, Feb. 14 with a 4 p.m. home match against Coppin State.
