LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Patriot League champion Bucknell women's soccer team placed two of its stars on the United Soccer Coaches All-North Region Team on Monday. Junior forward Rylee Donaldson earned Second Team honors, while freshman midfielder Teresa Deda was named to the Third Team.
This is just the second time the Bison have claimed multiple All-Region honorees in the same season. In 2016, Bucknell had three players recognized in First Team selections Kendall Ham and Karli Cirovski along with Second Team choice Jessica Ratner. Ham went on to become the first All-American in team history.
This year's honorees both played major roles in Bucknell's run to the Patriot League title. Donaldson was the league's Offensive Player of the Year after scoring a league-high 10 goals. Four of those strikes were game-winners, including an overtime goal against Lehigh, and seven of her goals came against conference opponents.
Donaldson, who was also an Academic All-Patriot League selection, became Bucknell's seventh PL Offensive Player of the Year.
Deda earned First Team All-Patriot League honors as a rookie, and then she went on to be named Patriot League Tournament MVP after Bucknell's 1-0 win over Boston University in the title game. Deda scored a dramatic overtime goal at Navy in the semifinals, and her corner kick led to the winning goal in the final.
Deda was the league's top playmaker this year, as her 12 assists led the league and ranked among the national leaders. She was one of only five freshmen named to any of the three All-North Region squads.
After being picked to finish ninth in the Patriot League preseason poll, Bucknell went 11-8-3 overall and 5-2-2 in league action. The fourth-seeded Bison posted three straight shutouts in the Patriot League Tournament, blanking Lehigh at home and Navy and Boston University on the road.
The Bison advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time and dropped a hard-fought 2-0 decision to No. 1 seed Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights have since gone on to advance to the College Cup semifinals.
