LEWISBURG, Pa. – Ashlyn Ramos of the Bucknell University women's cross country team earned her second Bison Athlete of the Week award this season after earning qualification to the NCAA Cross Country Championship for the second time in six months.
Ramos also earned the award on November 1 after her runner-up finish at the Patriot League Championships earlier this season, continuing that momentum into Friday's Mid-Atlantic Regional.
Ramos finished tenth at the Mid-Atlantic Regional to secure All-Region accolades, but had to wait an extra day to find out if she qualified for the NCAA meet due to the selection process of the at-large teams. Once Villanova had earned qualification, that sealed the deal for Ramos to become the second Bison in program history to head to NCAAs twice, and the first to do so individually. Theresa Dennis '03, who was inducted into the Bucknell Hall of Fame just a few weeks ago as a member of the class of 2020, has also qualified twice. Dennis was a member of the 1999 Bucknell team that qualified as a unit, before making her way back to the biggest stage two years later in 2001, finishing 73rd. Dennis' 73rd-place finish remains the highest finish by a Bucknell student-athlete at the NCAA Championships.
Ramos has earned All-Patriot League First Team honors in each of the three seasons she has competed at the Patriot League Championships, and will look to improve upon here 141st-place showing in Stillwater, Okla. In the spring. The finish for Ramos was the highest finish by a Bison at the NCAA meet since Leana Nastase in 2006.
The NCAA Championships will take place on Saturday, November 20 at 10:20 a.m., and will be streamed live on ESPNU.
