Ramos Earns Top-20 Finish
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Ashlyn Ramos turned in the top performance for Bucknell University women's cross country team on Friday morning at the Paul Short Run, finishing 20th in a field of 341 competitors in the highly-regarded competition.

"Our women did not run to their potential," said Head Coach Kevin Donner. "Ramos showed that she is capable of qualifying for the National Championships, and did a nice job of moving up during the race. Our other ladies got out too slow at the start and were trying to play catch up the entire race, but the field was too strong to do that. I thought our first-years Lauren Trapani and Sarah Policano were solid, but we need our upperclassmen to step up for us."
Ramos, the defending Patriot League Champion, finished in a time of 20:35.4, and was the third-fastest Patriot League competitor in the Gold race behind Georgia Jones (9th) and Helen Shearer (18th) of Army.
Bucknell finished 25th overall as a team (657) in the field of 38. Northern Arizona won the meet (85), narrowly edging out Villanova (85) for the top spot in a tiebreaker. Patriot League rivals Army (7th) and Navy (8th) placed in the top 10 in the team standings.
First-year Lauren Trapani was next up for Bucknell. The native of nearby Turbotville, Pa. earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week accolades earlier this season after a strong performance at the Bison Open in her collegiate debut, and finished 118th overall on Friday (21:49.2).
Abby Paczewski (190th, 22:27.8), Sarah Policano (197th, 22:31.5), and Mia Bellucci (203rd, 22:33.0) rounded out Bucknell's scoring runners in the Gold race. Laura Sakol (234th, (22:50.1) and Karly Forker (268th, 23:15.1) also competed in the Gold race of the day-long meet.
Several Bison also competed in the Open Women's 6k earlier on Friday morning. Two-time All-Patriot League pick Nora Bennett was Bucknell's top finisher in that race (21st, 22:33.1), followed by fellow top-50 finishers Keeley Misutka (37th , 23:08.5), Hollie Walters (38th, 23:09.1), and Jamie Falla (50th, 23:24.5).
Margaret McLoughlin (53rd), Kera Reinhard (57th), Eva Lindner (66th), Meghan Smith (75th), Maggie Mircovich (84th), Meredith Haberfield (131st), Anna Posh (136th), Samantha Killiany (141st), and Julia Tambaro (184th) all competed for Bucknell in the Open race.
Bucknell returns to action on October 16 when it travels to Florida State, the site of the NCAA Championships this year, for the FSU Invite/Pre-Nationals. Several Bison will also head to Easton to compete in the Leopard Invitational on that same day.
