Men's Tennis Goes 1-1 on Second Day of California Tour

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Bucknell men's tennis team went 1-1 on the second day of their spring break tour in California. The Bison won 7-0 against San Diego Mesa after dropping a 7-0 neutral match to East Carolina earlier in the day. Bucknell improved to 6-7 with the win over the Olympians.
Bucknell will play a 1:30 p.m. (ET) match against UC Riverside, which was previously scheduled for earlier in the week before being postponed due to weather, on Thursday, March 12. Later that day, the Bison will face Pomona Pitzer at 7:30 p.m.
Bucknell 7, San Deigo Mesa 0
The Bison earned their sixth win of the season over the Olympians with a 7-0 decision. Bucknell won all six singles matches in two sets, and the Bison swept the field in doubles. It was Bucknell's first road victory of the season.
Marwan Abaza won his 11th singles match of the season at number one with a 6-0, 6-2 score over Eduardo Castillo, and the rest of the Bison followed suit.
Per Astrom won his first dual singles match this spring by a 6-0, 6-1 decision in number six singles, and Ryan Jurist posted a clean 6-0, 6-0 victory at number four to even his season record at 6-6.
In doubles, the Bison cleaned up with a pair of 8-0 wins by the number two and three pairings, and Cooper Bradshaw and Michael Owen won their eighth match of the season together with an 8-4 victory at number one.
Bucknell 0, East Carolina 7
The Bison struggled early in the day to a 7-0 loss against the East Carolina Pirates in a neutral match. Bucknell did, however, pick up another doubles win when Guillermo Torres and Chunyu Chen defeated Javier Renones and Nelson Stafford 6-3 in the number three spot. Torres and Chen now have three wins this season.
The Bison did not come up with a win in singles, but Jurist showed effort in a three-set loss to East Carolina's Agustin Tamagnone.
The Pirates improved to 11-2 with the win.
