Women's Tennis Drops 6-1 Match to Binghamton

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Bucknell women's tennis suffered its first loss in nearly a month when it fell 6-1 to the Binghamton Bearcats at the Central PA Tennis Center on Sunday. Paige Leavy collected the one point for the Bison in singles, and the team pulled out a doubles victory as well. With the loss, Bucknell moves to 6-3 on the season after winning its last five in a row.
Leavy won her third match of the spring season when she defeated sophomore Regina Furer 6-4, 6-4 at number three singles. Leavy was also part of the winning doubles tandem that included sophomore Daniela Bellini as well. In the number one spot, the pair won 6-4 over Binghamton's Michelle Eisenberg and Samara Eisenberg.
Sofia Ayuso and Jill Auteri lost narrowly in number two doubles, 7-5. Auteri was also one of two Bison that took their opponents to three sets in singles. The senior fell 2-6, 7-6 (2), 6-2 to junior Ashley Granieri, and Bellini lost 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 to Michelle Eisenberg in number one singles.
Bucknell heads to California next week for a pair of spring break matches. The team faces UC Riverside on Thursday, March 12 and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Friday, March 13. After that, the Bison jump into Patriot League play with a March 22 trip to Army West Point.
