Softball Announces Incoming Seven-Player Freshman Class

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Head coach Joey Lye and the Bucknell softball team have announced the signing of seven incoming freshmen to the class of 2024, which includes Noelle Gardon, Rileigh Glynn, Caitlyn Kowalski, Nicole Mabry, Bella Radican, Zoie Smith, and Hunter Vestal.
The Bison, who have finished second in Patriot League standings in each of the last two seasons, currently have five seniors on the roster set to graduate at the conclusion of the season.
The following is a closer look at each incoming player:
NOELLE GARDON (LONGMONT, COLO./HOLY FAMILY HIGH SCHOOL) | MIDDLE INFIELD
Two-time All-State and All-Region selection at Holy Family High School … won a state championship in 2018 and was a state semifinalist in 2019 with a combined record of 52-4 over those two seasons … batted .423 and maintained a .949 fielding percentage in 2019 … combined for 58 RBIs and five home runs over the last two seasons … also played for the Colorado Angels club team … lettered in both basketball and track … daughter of Sheryl and Paul … sister, Nicole, played softball at Fairfield … sister, Natalie, played softball at Colorado State.
RILEIGH GLYNN (RINGOES, N.J./IMMACULATA HIGH SCHOOL) | OUTFIELD
Two-time First Team All-Conference and 2019 Second Team All-Area selection … batted .467 over three seasons … surpassed 100 career hits … state semifinalists in 2018 … also played for Finch's Aces Premier club team … also lettered in soccer … daughter of Krista and Kevin … has one sister, Cadence (14).
CAITLYN KOWALSKI (TOLEDO, OHIO/NOTRE DAME ACADEMY) | RHP
Three-time First Team All-TRAC and two-time Second Team All-District … two-time TRAC Pitcher of the Year … three-time team captain at the Notre Dame Academy … broke the school record for single-season strikeouts, career strikeouts, and most games pitched … also played for Finesse Softball club … daughter of Nikki and Matt … has one sibling, Carter.
NICOLE MABRY (PALOS VERDES, CALIF./PALOS VERDES HIGH SCHOOL) | OUTFIELD
Three-time First Team All-Bay League and two-time team captain … 2017 Rising Star award recipient … two-time Bay League champions … led the league in stolen bases in 2018 and 2019 … batted .583 in 2018 … also played for Ohana Tigers club team and So Cal Athletics … daughter of Barbara and Ron … has one sister, Jessica (15).
BELLA RADICAN (LEESBURG, VA./RIVERSIDE HIGH SCHOOL) | MIDDLE INFIELD
2019 All-State and First Team All-Region selection … three-time All-Conference player … 2019 district champion and state quarterfinalist with Riverside High School … three-time NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete Award recipient … broke the school single-season strikeout record with 93 as a freshman … school's all-time strikeout leader with 235 … .995 fielding percentage and .523 batting averaging through three years … also played for Tri-State Thunder Gold Travel Softball team … daughter of Gerald and Michele … father played baseball at Radford … has one brother, Connor (15).
ZOIE SMITH (PICKERINGTON, OHIO/PICKERINGTON HIGH SCHOOL) | CATCHER/OUTFIELD
Two-time All-State and two-time All-Conference selection … two-time team MVP and captain … won two Ohio Conference championships with Pickerington High School … 29 home runs and a .526 batting average through three seasons … hit two grand slams sophomore year … played six years on Indiana Magic Gold club team … also played for Ohio Hawks Gold club team … daughter of Tracie and Michael … has one sibling, Tristan (20).
HUNTER VESTAL (SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS/CANYON HIGH SCHOOL) | RHP/UTILITY
2019 All-State and two-time All-District selection … two-time Academic All-State … led team to back-to-back state tournaments, finishing second in 2019 … three-time district champion at Canyon High School … hit 13 home runs in 2018 … also played for Texas Blaze Gold club team … daughter of Jennifer and Rick … has two siblings, Brooke (19) and Harley (13) … sister, Brooke, currently plays softball at Oklahoma … father, Rick, played football and golf at Baylor.
