Bison Rowers Participate in National Girls & Women in Sports Day Festival

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The Bucknell rowing team was one of several Bison women's sports programs who recently participated in a youth sports festival as part of National Girls & Women in Sports Day. The free event in Gerhard Fieldhouse was open to children in kindergarten through the eighth grade, and all kids attending the festival received a free ticket to the Bucknell women's basketball game against Loyola later in the afternoon.
More than 200 kids turned out to spend part of their Saturday afternoon with Bison women athletes, and the day was filled with energy and excitement. The Bison rowers performed demonstrations on erg machines and let the youngsters try them out for themselves. All of the women who participated in the festival -- representing the rowing, women's soccer, field hockey, women's track & field, women's golf, women's tennis and volleyball teams -- were publicly recognized during the basketball game.
