How to Follow the Bison in 2021
12/31/2020 10:58:00 AM | Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball, Bison Club
LEWISBURG, Pa. -- As the calender flips to 2021, we are thrilled that some games are finally upon us! After nearly 300 days with no competitions, the lights come back on this weekend with the Bison men's basketball, women's basketball and wrestling teams all in action. While we can't wait to see our Bison competing again, the health of our student-athletes and coaches remains the top priority, and as such they will be performing in an adjusted environment designed to keep them as safe as possible. Unfortunately, that means we will not be able to welcome fans to our athletic venues for the foreseeable future, but there are still a myriad of ways to follow the Bison from afar. Here are some tips:
Watch Live Online on ESPN+
The Patriot League digital network moves to the ESPN+ platform this year. For just $5.99 per month (or $49.99 per year before Jan. 8; $59.99 per year starting Jan. 8), ESPN+ subscribers will get hundreds of live Patriot League sporting events, along with thousands of live events and original programming not available on ESPN's linear TV or digital networks, as well as the full library of 30 for 30 documentaries and ESPN Films.
Every Bucknell home and away men's and women's basketball game, except those picked up by CBS Sports Network (see below), can be viewed on ESPN+. Broadcast schedules for other sports potentially competing in the spring will be announced at a later date.
Fans outside the United States wishing to view live events can do so through an international stream hosted by SIDEARM sports. The same $5.99 monthly subscription applies for the international feed. Click HERE for more information.
Also note that this weekend's round-robin wrestling event with LIU and VMI will feature live look-ins via the @bucknell_wrst and @bucknellbison Instagram accounts.
Watch on TV
Once again this season the Patriot League is partnering with CBS Sports Network to produce a package of men's and women's basketball games. This year's slate features 17 games, including the men's and women's championship games as part of a doubleheader on Sunday, March 14. The Bison men will have three regular-season games on the network, including this Sunday's home opener against Navy.
Also this season, three men's basketball games and three women's basketball games can be seen on local television. The men's games will air on WQMY-TV, while the women's games can be seen on Service Electric cable.
Here are the dates for Bucknell's scheduled TV appearances:
Eagle 107 (107.3 FM WEGH) is once again the flagship radio station for Bison men's basketball and football games, and the VBU (90.5 FM) campus station is the home for Bison women's basketball games. For those outside the local listening area, the audio broadcasts can also be accessed through the BucknellBison.com All-Access page, the radio station websites, and via TuneIn Radio.
Follow on the New Mobile App
This fall Bucknell Athletics and Learfield/IMG College introduced a brand new Bison Nation mobile app for iPhone, iPad and Android devices. The app is available for download in the App Store and Google Play.
The app is particularly handy now that competitions are coming back on the docket. Fans can customize alert notifications to get the latest news, scores and promotional opportunities. Schedules can be downloaded, and live statistics and radio broadcasts can be accessed through the app.
Follow on Social Media
Another great way to follow the Bison is through social media. Be sure to give our main Twitter (@Bucknell_Bison), Instagram (@bucknellbison) and Facebook (@BucknellAthletics) accounts a follow. Use our social media directory to find your favorite sport accounts, which is a great source for in-game updates and other content.
Live Statistics Feeds
Whether you are a true stat lover or just want a way to follow the scores in real time, most Bison sporting events have real-time scoring feeds that can be accessed from a computer or mobile device. Here is a directory of live stats links for home events, and throughout the year live stats links for road games can be accessed via team schedules and weekly game preview stories.
Virtual Basketball Season Tickets & Fan Cutouts
OK so you can't come to Sojka Pavilion for basketball games this season, but you can be here in spirit while supporting the Bison teams by making a donation for a virtual season ticket. The virtual season ticket includes many great perks, including a three-month subscription to ESPN+, a fan cutout that will be placed in Sojka Pavilion, and chances to win great prizes. A portion of the purchase price is considered a tax-deductible gift to the Bucknell men's and women's basketball programs.
Virtual season tickets are not required to obtain a fan cutout. If you wish to simply purchase a fan cutout, visit https://shop.fancutouts.com/products/bucknell-university-fan-cutouts.
