EARLYSVILLE, Va.—The Bucknell University women's cross country team posted a tenth-place finish in a loaded field at the Panorama Farms Invite hosted by the University of Virginia on Friday morning.
"We had mixed results today with some of our runners racing very well, and others struggled with the heat and the course," said Head Coach Kevin Donner. "Ramos is at a much higher level than last year and has been healthy. Blair was in great shape through 4k and then hit a wall but fought pretty good. Deschler continues to run well. We had a bit too big of a gap between our 3-4 runner, and if we can close that, we might be able to be competitive at the league meet."
Sophomore Ashlyn Ramos took the top time for the Bison (38th, 21:54.4) in the field of 153. Overall, Bucknell placed three runners in the top 50.
Ramos was followed close behind by Ashley Blair (45th, 22:10.3), who was running for the first time since winning the Pitt Panther Opener to begin her junior season.
Emily Deschler, the top runner for Bucknell at the Harry Lang Invite, also placed in the top 50 (49th, 22:19.0). Rounding out the scorers for the Bison were Olivia Dyer (67th, 22:44.3) and Nora Bennett (77th, 22:53.0)
Lauren Gronbeck, Mia Bellucci, Camille Lussier, and Madeleine Hunt also took part in the meet.
Bucknell (254 points), placed tenth in the field of 15, five points behind Charlotte for ninth. Michigan State, the No. 11 ranked team in the country, won the meet with 42 points. Yale (98), Kentucky (143), Elon (143), and Liberty (155), took the remaining top five spots. The Spartans placed seven runners in the top 15. Jessica Pascoe of Florida won the individual title (20:14.5).
Bucknell will now look ahead to the Paul Short Invite on Oct. 5.
