Michael Owen Earns First-Round Win at Binghamton Championships

VESTAL N.Y. – Bucknell men's tennis opened competition at the Binghamton Championships on Friday, with freshman Michael Owen and sophomore Dave Carvalho competing in both doubles and singles for the Bison.
Owen won his first-round matchup in the Green singles draw, defeating NJIT's Adrian Tudor 7-6 (4), 7-5. Owen, who won two singles matches at the Temple Invite last weekend, will now face Army's Thomas Lake in the semifinal round Saturday.
Carvalho faced Binghamton's Dan Pergel in the opening round of the Roher singles flight, and won the first set before retiring from the match in the second. The two Bison also competed in the Green doubles flight, but fell to 0-2 in the standings after a pair of 6-2 decisions.
Play will commence tomorrow at 9:15 a.m., beginning with another round of doubles before singles matches are played in the afternoon.
