LIVE SCORING
LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women's golf team is off and running in 2019-20 after debuting with 36 holes on Saturday at the Bucknell Invitational. The Bison got off to a strong start with an opening-round 306 before dropping back a bit in the afternoon with a 315.
Among the day-one highlights for the Bison were a steady 74 (+4) from freshman Sahana Paravantavida in her very first collegiate round, and a 2-over 72 from junior Casey Morrow on the second 18.
At 621 total, the Bison are in seventh place. 10 shots in back of sixth-place Wagner. Navy posted a pair of 297s for a 594 composite, and the Mids lead second-place Youngstown State by four shots heading into Sunday's final round.
Towson (604), Lehigh (606), Richmond (606), Wagner (611), Bucknell, Saint Francis (Pa.) (627) and Hampton (663) round out the field.
Morrow is the top Bucknell player in 10th place with a 9-over 149 total. Morrow started her morning round with a bogey at the tough par-3 second hole, which is an unenviable starting hole in a shotgun format. But then she followed with 13 straight pars before running into some difficulty on holes 16-18.
Morrow closed with a par back at No. 1 to finish with a 77, and then she bounced back with a strong 72 in the afternoon, highlighted by four birdies at 1, 3, 8, and 14. Morrow is only six shots behind the leader, Shannon Gould of Navy, who shot 73-70 on Saturday. Lehigh's Addy Douglas (70-74) and Navy's Amelia Root (68-76) are one back.
Paravantavida started her debut round at the fourth hole and made four pars right out of the gate. She later made her first birdie at the par-4 11th hole, and she was sitting at 2-over for the round before a bogey-bogey finish left her with a 74. Paravantavida came back with a 79 in the afternoon, and she is now tied for 21st place.
Also for Bucknell, senior Meredith Langs shot 76-83, junior Erin Holmes carded two 81s, and freshman Tatum McKelvey shot 79-86.
Three sophomores played as individuals, with Sally Sohn leading the way with rounds of 79-76. Sohn made three birdies in a span of four holes in her second round. Morgan Hennessy posted a pair of 82s, and Sun Woo Jeon shot 84-81.
The third and final round gets underway Sunday morning at 9 a.m. with another shotgun start.
