LEWISBURG, Pa. – A day after Rade Joksimovic earned the Bison Athlete of the Week award, Bucknell earned two more awards by the MAWPC, as announced by the CWPA on Tuesday morning. Joksimovic has been named the MAWPC Offensive Player of the Week, while freshman Andu Vlasceanu earned Rookie of the Week plaudits.
Vlasceanu scored 13 goals and added six assists, tying for the team lead in the latter over the four-game stretch. Vlasceanu led the team in scoring with five goals in a hard-fought win over MIT to open the season, and scored two of Bucknell's final four goals in a one-goal decision over No. 16 Cal Baptist. He also provided a strong performance against No. 20 Brown, scoring three times and adding two assists.
Joksimovic scored four times and added an assist to open his senior campaign in a 15-9 win over MIT. However, in the evening match, Joksimovic saved his best performance of the weekend for No. 16 Cal Baptist, scoring eight times and adding an assist in a 20-19 win over the Lancers.
The native of Novi Sad, Serbia also put up big numbers against No. 20 and homestanding Brown, scoring seven times with an assist as Bucknell defeated a ranked opponent in back-to-back games for the first time since defeating Harvard and Wagner on Oct. 13 last season. Joksimovic then closed the Bruno Classic with three goals and three assists, assisting Jared Stanley on what would be the eventual game-winning goal in a 13-10 win over the Terriers.
Joksimovic's 28 points through the first four games continues the trend of solid starts for the senior. Last season, Joksimovic scored 24 goals and 12 assists at the Bruno Classic to earn Bison Athlete and MAWPC Player of the Week honors after the tournament concluded.
Bucknell will once again face a challenging slate when they travel to the Princeton Invite for games against UC San Diego, Princeton, and Brown.
