Three Seniors Earn Spots on NABC Honors Court

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Nate Jones, Kimbal Mackenzie and Matt O'Reilly, three members of the Bucknell men's basketball team's record-setting senior class, were named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court on Wednesday. The Honors Court recognizes juniors and seniors who earned at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average at the end of the 2018-19 season.Â
All three of these Bison seniors were recognized for their work in the classroom throughout their careers. Jones, a history major, was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Team last season. Mackenzie, an economics major, was a two-time Academic All-Patriot League selection who was also chosen as the 2019 Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year and a First Team All-Patriot League honoree. O'Reilly and Jones were the only two seniors in the entire Patriot League to be four-time members of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, and Mackenzie earned that distinction three times.Â
The Bison men's basketball team has a long tradition of success both on the court and in the classroom. In addition to winning eight of the last nine Patriot League regular-season titles, the program maintains a perfect score in both of the NCAA's academic success metrics: the Graduation Success Rate (GSR) and Academic Performance Rate (APR). Bucknell received another NCAA APR Public Recognition Award in 2019, and the team has posted combined GPAs over 3.0 in both the fall and spring semesters in each of the last 10 years.Â
