LEWISBURG, Pa. – Reed Malas, a senior midfielder on the Bucknell men's lacrosse team, was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District 2 At-Large Team on Thursday.
Malas, an accounting and financial management major with a stellar 3.96 cumulative grade-point average, earned his third-straight berth on the Academic All-Patriot League Team earlier this month; he now moves on to the national Academic All-America ballot.
Malas started every game at midfield over the past three seasons, reaching the 25-point threshold in each. In 2018, he enjoyed a breakout year, placing fourth on the team with 34 points (22g-12a) while helping the Bison capture a share of the Patriot League regular-season title and achieve a top-10 national ranking. For his efforts, he earned All-Patriot League Second Team accolades. This year, he was selected as one of 30 candidates for the 2019 Senior CLASS Award® in collegiate men's lacrosse, and he helped the Bison make a late-season surge into the postseason. Malas finished his career with 53 goals and 36 assists for 89 points.
During his time in college, Malas interned for Deutsche Bank Securities Inc., CVCCredit Partners and Morgan Stanley. He was also heavily involved in the youth lacrosse community in his hometown of Mamaroneck, New York. He will work for Deutsche Bank healthcare investment banking after he graduates this weekend.
Administered by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the Google Cloud Academic All-America program includes sport-specific teams in football, men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball, men's and women's basketball, baseball, softball and men's and women's cross country/track and field. Student-athletes in all other sports are considered for the "at-large" team. In order to qualify, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.30 cumulative GPA and be a starter or key reserve on his/her team.
