Salisbury Earns All-East Honors in the 100
PRINCETON, N.J. -- Kaitlin Salisbury earned All-East Honors in the 100 for the first time (6th, 12.35), and Bucknell placed 27th on 11 points at the ECAC Championships on Sunday afternoon. Albany (76) took first place, while Towson (63), Cornell (61), Penn (50), and Northeastern (35) rounded out the top five. Â

"I would not rank this as a good IC4A-ECAC Championship as a team for both genders," said head coach Kevin Donner. "The weather was real bad today and it seemed to affect the mindset for many of our athletes. Instead of placing high, many were concerned with just getting better marks, which affected our team scores.  The weather did not allow that, but it's still there for everyone. With that said, it's always nice to have people make All East and we did that with Salisbury in the 100, Melchionni in the 400. Marino did an outstanding job in the pole vault to place high and his mark will qualify him for the NCAA. Fay didn't have his best day but was still seventh. The pole vault was contested indoors. Having two vaulters at NCAA is exciting, and Coach Delsite is doing a great job with them."Â
Salisbury, who was an ECAC and Patriot League Champion indoors in the 60 in March, took sixth in the 100 on Sunday after finishing seventh in the prelims. Â
In the shot put, Delia Sipe placed 20th (41-4.5), while Alexandra Butz was 10th in the high jump (5-4.5). Sipe also took a top-10 finish in the discus (126-6) to narrowly miss on scoring in the event. Brianna Tutuska was 25th (113-11). Â
The 4x800 team, after taking second in last year's meet, placed ninth (9:22.62). The squad of Karly Forker, Gianna Mincone, Madeleine Hunt, and Tia Tardy were just over a second from scoring in the event behind eighth-place Holy Cross (9:19.51). Â
Qualifying athletes will now turn their attention to the NCAA East Preliminaries, held on the campus of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla., beginning on Thursday, May 23.    Â
