Five Bison Travel to Jacksonville for NCAA Preliminary Meet

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Five members of the Bucknell University track and field team will travel to Jacksonville, Fla. for the NCAA East Provisional beginning on Thursday, May 20. Maura Fiamoncini, Will Briggs, Matt Fay, Nicholas Marino, and Jake Stupak will each make the trip. The top 12 finishers from each event will move on to the NCAA Championships held at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas from June 5-8.

Matt Fay, Senior
Event: Pole Vault (Thursday, 4:30 p.m.)
Seed: 28^th (17-0)
Career-Best: 17-0 (Maroon and Gold Invite, April 27, 2019)
Notes: Placed second at the Patriot League Championships (16-5.5), seventh at IC4As (15-11.25). Placed 21^st at NCAA East Preliminary in 2017, and was 36^th in 2018.

Nicholas Marino, Sophomore
Event: Pole Vault (Thursday, 4:30 p.m.)
Seed: 44^th (16-7.25)
Career-Best: 16-7.25 (IC4A Outdoor Championships, May 11-12, 2019)
Notes: Fourth at the Patriot League Championships (16-2.75). Qualified for NCAA East Preliminary on final chance of the season. Took first at the Army West Point Twilight Meet. Career-best mark ranks second in Bucknell history.

Will Briggs, Junior
Event: Discus (Friday, 4 p.m.)
Seed: 30^th (177-9)
Career-Best: 177-9 (Maroon and Gold Invite, April 27, 2019)
Notes: Holds school record in the discus. Placed Seventh at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships, and finished seventh at IC4As.

Jake Stupak, Junior
Event: 1500 (Thursday, 6 p.m.)
Seed: 39^th (3:45.80)
Career-Best: 3:45.80 (Bison Outdoor Classic, April 13-14, 2019)
Notes: Stupak holds the fifth-fastest time in school history in the 1500, and was the third-fastest time in the Patriot League this season. Placed third at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships.

Maura Fiamoncini, Sophomore
Event: Javelin (Thursday, 12 p.m.)
Seed: 10^th (170-9)
Career-Best: 184-5 (Jim Taylor Invite, March 31, 2018)
Notes: Owns School Record in the javelin. Won the Patriot League Outdoor title for the second consecutive season with a meet record of 168-2. Threw season-best of 170-9 at ECAC Championships to finish second. Placed fifth in the preliminary round in 2018 and 13^th at the NCAA Championships.
