LEWISBURG, Pa. – Junior Raeanne Geffert pitched a no-hitter and had two complete-game wins in Bucknell softball's three-game sweep at Lehigh over the weekend. On Monday, she was named the Bison Athlete of the Week for her outstanding performance.
Geffert's first career no-hitter came in a 2-0 win in the first game of the series. She retired the first 12 batters in order before allowing the first Lehigh baserunner with a walk. She finished with three walks and four strikeouts. It was Bucknell's first no-hitter since Cindy Cherness pitched on in a five-inning win over North Carolina Central in 2016.
Geffert returned to the circle the following day and pitched Bucknell to an 8-3 win in the final game of the series. All three runs were scored in the same inning, giving the junior 13 scoreless innings in the series.
Bucknell improved to 6-0 in the Patriot League. The Bison were the first Patriot League team ever to sweep Lehigh in a series of at least three games. Geffert is 4-0 against league opponents.
The first-place Bison will host Lafayette for a three-game Patriot League series on Saturday and Sunday at Becker Field.
