Women's Tennis Beats Morgan State to Reach Double-Digit Wins for Fourth-Straight Season

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Bucknell women's tennis picked up its 10^th win of the season with a 5-2 victory over Morgan State in a non-conference match Saturday at the Central PA Tennis Center.

The Bison improved to 10-4 while securing a double-digit win total for the fourth-straight season. Morgan State, which won the MEAC title and played in the NCAA Tournament last season, fell to 3-11.

Sofia Ayuso improved to 21-8 during the fall and spring seasons combined and 11-3 during the spring with an 8-3 win on court five. Her fall and spring win total ties her with former teammate Lisa Jouravleva for 17^th on the program's single-season wins list.

Bucknell's other three singles victories came in straight sets, including a 6-1, 6-1 triumph by Daniela Bellini on court one.

Cayla Koch and Paige Leavy each recorded their 10^th singles win of the spring. Koch was a 6-1, 6-2 winner on court two, while Leavy prevailed 6-2, 7-5 on court three.

"The top of the lineup really dominated today and solid doubles effort got the match started," Bucknell head coach Rebecca Helt said.

The Bison took two of three matches to capture the doubles point for the 12^th time in 14 matches. Leavy and Koch improved to 10-3 during the spring with a 6-3 win on court one. Bellini and Ayuso posted the same score on court two to improve to 9-3.

Bucknell stayed unbeaten at 3-0 in the series history with Morgan State, adding to its wins in 2015 and 2018.

The Bison will host Lafayette at the Varsity Courts on campus for a Patriot League match on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
