Tournament Schedule
LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Bucknell senior Kimbal Mackenzie has been selected as one of four players to represent Team Patriot League at the Dos Equis 3X3U National Championship during Final Four weekend in Minneapolis. Each of the 32 Division I men's basketball conferences will enter a team of four players who have exhausted their NCAA eligibility for the 3-on-3 style tournament -- three players on the floor and one substitute -- with the championship team sharing $100,000.Â
Mackenzie will be joined on the Patriot League squad by Lance Tejada and Kyle Leufroy of Lehigh and Jehyve Floyd of Holy Cross. This is the second straight year that Bucknell has been represented in the event. At last year's inaugural 3X3U National Championship, Stephen Brown and Zach Thomas competed for the Patriot League squad.Â
This year's event is open to the public and will take place Apr. 5-7 at the Mall of America in Minneapolis. Play gets underway on Friday, Apr. 5 at 3 p.m., with additional sessions slated for Saturday, Apr. 6 at 9:30 a.m., and Sunday, Apr. 7 at 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. The first three sessions can be seen live on Twitter, and the final championship round will be televised on ESPN2. The complete tournament schedule will be announced at a later date.
All tournament games consist of one-point (inside the arc) and two-point (outside the arc) shots, and the winner is the first team to 21 points, or the team that is in the lead after 10 minutes of play. Teams winning pool play games will receive $1,000 in prize money.Â
All four Patriot League representatives were all-conference performers in 2018-19. Mackenzie and Tejada were both First Team All-Patriot League selections, while Floyd was named to the Second Team and Leufroy to the Third Team. Mackenzie enjoyed a sensational senior year, particularly in the postseason, when he averaged 25.0 points per game with 16 3-pointers in 31 attempts in three Patriot League Tournament games. For the season, Mackenzie logged 17.6 points per game to rank third in the Patriot League in scoring. His 582 points rank No. 7 in Bucknell history, and his 83 made 3-pointers rank No. 4 on the team's all-time single-season list. A First Team All-Patriot League selection and the league's 2019 Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Mackenzie will graduate with 1,330 career points to rank 18th in school history.Â
