Gimmestad Named Bison Athlete of the Week and Patriot League Player of the Week

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Anna Gimmestad was named the Bison Athlete of the Week on Monday and the Patriot League Player of the Week on Tuesday after leading Bucknell softball to a three-game sweep over Colgate. The senior went 7-for-9 with two home runs, a double, and nine RBIs.
Both of Gimmestad's home runs came in a 9-1 win in five innings in the final game of the series on Sunday. They came in a game in which the Bison hit five home runs, including one each by Lauren Hadley, Taylor Wolfgang, and Marisa Alemany.
Gimmestad added a walk on the weekend as she reached base eight times in 10 plate appearances. She had multiple hits in all three games and now leads the team in batting average (.341) and hits (29).
Bucknell is 13-15 overall and 3-0 in the Patriot League. The Bison have a big three-game league series against Lehigh coming up this weekend. They will travel to play the Mountain Hawks at Leadership Park on Saturday and Sunday.
The Bison and Mountain Hawks tied for second in the Patriot League Preseason Poll. They were the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds in last year's league tournament.
