LEWISBURG, Pa. – Logan Schofield has been named the Bison Athlete of the Week after a dominating display in the center against No. 9 Harvard on Saturday. Schofield scored three times while drawing two ejections that led to penalty shots in the one-goal win over the Crimson.
Schofield opened the game with an ejection drawn to set up Rade Joksimovic's first penalty shot of the game. The senior from Maumee, Ohio then scored himself on a pass from Jared Stanley for Bucknell's second goal of the day. The Bison drew four penalty shots in the game, with Schofield accounting for two of the opportunities. Schofield added another goal to give the Bison a 5-4 lead over the Crimson after grabbing a rebound off of a hard shot by Andu Vlasceanu off the crossbar and firing home. Schofield also helped set up several 6-on-5 opportunities for Bucknell in the second half of the game.
Schofield's third goal of the game came with just 38 seconds left on the clock in the first half as he lofted a delicate shot over the Harvard goalkeeper to help kickstart a 3-0 run by the Bison to take an 11-9 lead at the halftime break. Schofield is now up to 114 ejections drawn this season.
The win by the Bison marks the first NCAA Tournament win for the program since 1985. Schofield and the rest of the Bison will take on defending National Champion USC in Stockton, Calif. on Thursday, Dec. 5.
