LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell wrestling team will hold its annual Bison Intrasquad on Sunday, Nov. 3 at 5 p.m.Â
The intrasquad dual, which will play a role in determining Bucknell's starting lineup, will be held in Davis Gym. It will pit the Orange Team, helmed by head coach Dan Wirnsberger and volunteer assistant coach John Van Brill, against the Blue Team, led by assistant coaches Kevin LeValley and Eric Morrill.
Â
The Bison return three NCAA qualifiers—Zach Hartman, Garrett Hoffman and Drew Phipps—for the 2019-20 campaign; they also bring back four EIWA placewinners in Hartman, Phipps, David Campbell and Joey Gould. Notably, Hartman became the first Bucknell freshman to finish as a runner-up and Phipps earned his second-straight podium finish at the 2019 EIWA Championships.
The Bison went 7-11 (4-7 EIWA) during 2018-19 dual competition. They also placed 13th at the EIWA Championships in March and tied for 14th in a 67-team field at the prestigious Ken Kraft Midlands Championships in late December. Bucknell graduated eight seniors in 2019, including three-time EIWA Championships starter D.J. Hollingshead. The Bison's group of eight newcomers includes two state champions, six state placewinners and six team captains. The full season preview can be read here.
Bucknell travels to Northern Illinois for its season opener on Friday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. The squad's home opener will come against Bloomsburg on Thursday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m.
