LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell head women's lacrosse coach Remington Steele announced that Callie DeWitt, Jamisen DeWitt, Sarah Dohler and Audrey Walsh will serve as captains during the 2019 campaign.
All four are first-time captains. Walsh and the DeWitt twins are seniors while Dohler is a junior. They will lead a young team featuring 21 underclassmen.
In 2018, Callie DeWitt transitioned from midfield to defense. She started all 15 games she appeared in, finishing second among Bison defenders in ground balls (27) and fourth overall in caused turnovers (17). The year before, she started all 17 games as a defensive midfielder, logging 24 ground balls and 19 caused turnovers.
Goalkeeper Jamisen DeWitt enters her senior year fifth among Bison in career goals against average (11.12), tied for seventh in career ground balls (120) and eighth in career saves (419). She was recognized on the 2018 All-Patriot League Second Team after notching 172 saves and 45 ground balls; she led the Patriot League and ranked ninth nationally in saves per game (10.75) that season. DeWitt has started 50 of Bucknell's 51 games over the past three years.
Dohler enjoyed a strong sophomore campaign in 2018, playing in all 16 games and starting four at midfield. She registered 14 points (13g-1a), posting hat tricks in back-to-back games against Colgate and Holy Cross.
Walsh has been an important attacker for the Bison over the past three seasons. In 2017, she led the team with 46 points on 26 goals and 20 assists. The following year, she finished third with 17 points on 14 goals and three assists. The attacker started 30 of Bucknell's 33 games over the past two seasons.
