Bucknell at a Glance
• Bucknell wrapped up dual competition with a 3-5 (3-4 Patriot League) record after being clipped by Lehigh, 149-145, on Jan. 26 at Kinney Natatorium.
• The rivalry dual meet between the Bison and Mountain Hawks came down to the final relay, the 400 freestyle relay. The Lehigh quartets ultimately touched the wall first and third, propelling their team past Bucknell, which had pulled ahead by a 141-136 margin thanks to a win by Matt McGoey and a runner-up showing by Carter Weiland in the 200 IM, the proceeding event.
• Chadd Cummings was a standout performer for the Bison in his final collegiate dual meet, winning the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke and teaming with Jack Rose, Liam Pitt and Charlie McFarland for a first-place showing in the 200 medley relay. Garrett Sommer (3-meter dive) and Jacob Lubinski (200 butterfly) were Bucknell's other individual champions.
• Saturday's Bison Invite is the team's final tune-up before the 2019 Patriot League Championships, set for Feb. 20-23 at Kinney Natatorium. American, Army West Point, Delaware, Lafayette, Navy and Shippensburg are scheduled to attend.
• The Bison hosted all eight of their 2018-19 dual meets at Kinney Natatorium. Their dual meet at Columbia, which was scheduled for Jan. 20, was canceled due to the snowstorm that hit the Northeast. It would have been their first, and only, dual meet on the road this season. Â
• In 2017-18, the Bison went 2-7 (2-4 Patriot League). They placed third (411 points) at the 10-team Patriot League Championships and ninth (177 points) at the 21-team ECAC Championships, a one spot improvement at both events from the 2016-17 campaign.
• Chris Devlin (1st) and McGoey (2nd) were Bucknell's 2018 All-Patriot League honorees.
• The Bison returned two school record holders: Cummings (100 breaststroke, 54.65) and McGoey (200 IM, 1:47.84). In addition, returnees Cummings (200 medley, 400 medley), McFarland (200 medley, 400 medley, 400 freestyle) and Lubinski (400 medley) were members of school record setting relay teams.
• Bucknell lost Devlin, a four-time All-Patriot League First Team selection and two-time Swimmer of the Patriot League Championships, to graduation. Devlin left Lewisburg as the school record holder in three events and as the owner of six Patriot League individual titles.
• The program welcomed eight newcomers in 2018-19. They hail from eight different states: Colorado, Idaho, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina and Pennsylvania.
