LEWISBURG, Pa. – Rade Joksimovic was tabbed as the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Player of the Week and the Bison Athlete of the Week after leading the No. 20 Bucknell men's water polo team to a 4-1 opening weekend at the Bruno Classic.
Joksimovic was sensational for the Bison, recording 36 points on 24 goals and 12 assists. His point total was double that of the second-place Bison.
Joksimovic's average of 7.20 points per contest was bolstered by a 10-point (9g-1a) outing against MIT and an 11-point effort (6g-5a) against No. 15 Brown. He also enjoyed a strong outing against No. 8 Pepperdine, registering five points (3g-2a) in a tight 12-11 loss.
Joksimovic now boasts 361 career points on 284 goals and 77 assists. He currently ranks fourth in career goals and ninth in career points; he entered the season needing 25 points to crack Bucknell's top 10 and nearly did so on the strength of just his goal total.
This is Joksimovic's fourth career Bison Athlete of the Week award. As a freshman in 2016, he captured this honor three times, including in two-consecutive weeks.
Joksimovic and the Bison return to action by hosting the Bucknell Invitational from Saturday, Sept. 15 to Sunday, Sept. 16. They will face La Salle (Sept. 15, 11:15 a.m.), Washington & Jefferson (Sept. 15, 6:45 p.m.), Fordham (Sept. 16, 12:30 p.m.) and Salem (Sept. 16, 6 p.m.).
