Ayuso Won Two Matches in Flight 3, While La Barge Won One in Flight 4

RESULTS

MERION STATION, Pa. – Sofia Ayuso and Schuyler La Barge each advanced to the semifinal round of their respective singles flights Saturday as Bucknell women's tennis continued play at the Saint Joseph's Invitational.

Ayuso and La Barge will join the doubles team of Mishi Papich and Jill Auteri, which won their two matches Friday, as Bucknell players going for titles when play wraps up on Sunday.

Playing in Flight 3, Ayuso opened with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Morgan State's Oriane Yehouenou. The Bison sophomore followed that with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over La Salle's Tiffany Theophil in the quarterfinal round. Ayuso will play Villanova's Carina Burdick in the semifinals on Sunday.

La Barge received a bye in the first round before beating Madeline Hill (Saint Joseph's) 6-4, 6-2 in the quarterfinal round. She will play La Salle's Maansi Malhotra in a semifinal matchup.

Daniela Bellini (Flight 1), Jill Auteri (Flight 4), and Danielle Gannon (Flight 4) all won their first-round matches before falling in the quarterfinals. Bellini is 4-1 on the season.
