LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell director of athletics and recreation Jermaine Truax has been appointed to the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Selection Committee. Truax, who is in his first year at Bucknell, will be one of 10 FCS athletic directors tasked with determining the 24-team FCS playoff bracket.
"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to represent Bucknell and the Patriot League on the FCS Selection Committee," said Truax, who played football at Edinboro during his undergraduate days. "Year in and year out, the FCS playoffs prove to be one of the NCAA's most exciting postseason tournaments. You have great teams playing entertaining games, and the 24-team playoff format always produces a worthy national champion. I am looking forward to following the progress of all of the FCS teams around the country this fall, and I wish all of the student-athletes and coaches the best of luck in their upcoming seasons."
The 2018 FCS Selection Committee will be chaired by Brad Teague, the director of athletics at Central Arkansas. He will oversee the only NCAA committee that is entirely comprised of ADs. Truax will be one of five first-year members of the committee.
The 24-team field consists of 10 automatic qualifiers and 14 at-large berths. The selection committee will convene regularly via conference calls throughout the season, and it will meet in Indianapolis on Saturday, Nov. 17, which is the final day of the regular season. The 2018 bracket will then be revealed on Sunday, Nov. 18, with the first playoff games set for Nov. 24.
Bucknell is set to begin its season on Sept. 1 at home against William & Mary at 6 p.m.
