LEWISBURG, Pa. – Joe Susan announced Wednesday the addition of Khalid Jones to his coaching staff.Â
"We're excited to have Khalid join our staff," Susan said. "He comes to Bucknell with great experience coaching defensive football. He will serve as a role model and mentor for the student-athletes in our program and is also a passionate and personal recruiter. Khalid will be a positive addition to our staff, and we all look forward to working with him."
Jones, who will mentor the Bison cornerbacks, most recently worked at Villanova University and Susquehanna University. He spent six off-season months on the Wildcat staff, serving as a defensive assistant coach. He came to Villanova from Susquehanna, where he was a defensive backs coach and an assistant special teams coordinator.
In 2017, his second of two campaigns on the Susquehanna staff, the River Hawks defeated Albright in the Centennial-MAC Bowl and posted an 8-3 record. They also led the Centennial Conference in total defense, pass defense and opponent first downs. They allowed an average of 277.4 yards per game, good for 24th in the NCAA Division III ranks.
At Susquehanna, Jones recruited in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and North Carolina. He mentored three All-Centennial Conference selections in Danial Shelton, Ryan Ganard and Terrell Brown, with Shelton also earning 2016 Rookie of the Year accolades.
Jones was a defensive back at Saint Francis (Pa.), graduating in 2015 with a B.S. in business management. Before embarking on his collegiate career, he was an All-Inter-Ac and All-Main Line defensive back/running back at Episcopal Academy.
