LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Seven members of the Bucknell rowing team have received 2018 National Scholar-Athlete Awards from the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA): Caroline Bixby, Emma King, Allison Mascioli, Natalie Minella, Grace Ott, Mikaela Schaller and Kim Winter.
In order to receive a CRCA National Scholar-Athlete Award, a student-athlete must be in her second, third, or fourth year of eligibility while maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or better. Recipients also must have rowed in her institution's NCAA or IRA eligible boat(s) for a minimum of 75 percent of this year's spring races or in a regional conference event.
All seven of Bucknell's recipients were members of either the varsity eight (Ott, Schaller) or second varsity eight (Mascioli, Bixby, King, Winter, Minella) that helped the Bison capture a third-place finish at the Patriot League Championships earlier this spring. Bixby was later named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team.
The Bison rowing squad combined for a strong 3.27 GPA during the 2018 spring semester.
