LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women's lacrosse team was downed by Colgate, 13-10, on Saturday afternoon at Graham Field.
The Raiders (8-3, 3-1 Patriot League) used an 8-0 run that stretched from the 9:24 mark of the first half to the 16:11 mark of the second to build an 11-5 advantage, which proved too much for the Bison (2-8, 1-3 Patriot League) to overcome even though they scored five of the game's final seven goals.
After spotting Colgate an early 2-0 lead, Bucknell came roaring back with a 5-1 run that made it a 5-3 game with 11:50 left to play in the first half. During that run, three different Bison found the back of the net, with Sarah Dohler registering her first two goals in less than a six-minute span.
From that point on, the Raiders took over the game. Danielle Van Calcar (4g-2a), Payton Gabriel (3g-2a) and Haley O'Hanlon (1g-3a) each finished with at least four points.
Morgan Steinhacker kicked off Bucknell's comeback bid by striking at the 14:48 and 13:44 marks of the second half to trim the Raiders' lead to 11-7. That three-goal deficit was as close as the Bison would come to drawing even until Eve Calabria capped the game's scoring with just five seconds remaining.

Dohler (3g), Calabria (1g-2a), Steinhacker (2g) and Sophia Klaber (1g-1a) enjoyed multi-point outings. Jamie DeWitt finished with six saves, five of which came in the second half.
Steinhacker filled the stat sheet, tying DeWitt for the team high in ground balls (3) and finishing second in both caused turnovers (3) and draw controls (2). Jessie Britton paced the Bison with four caused turnovers while Katherine Doyle recorded a team-high three draw controls.
Bucknell led in shots (29-28) while Colgate held advantages in ground balls (18-14) and draw controls (15-10). The Bison consistently disrupted the Raiders' clearing attempts, holding them to 16-of-24, including 9-of-15 in the second half.
The Bison next host Holy Cross on Saturday, April 7 at 1 p.m. That game, and the remainder of Bucknell's 2018 home schedule, will be played at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.
