About the Bison/Last Time Out
- The Bison are back in action after competing at the Bucknell Tune-Up at Gerhard Fieldhouse last Friday.
- At the final meet before the league championships, the Bison won six events.
- Bucknell took the team title by edging out Lehigh by a mere 1.5 points.
- The Bison picked up huge points in the 800m, sweeping the top three spots. Scott Gulizio led the pack with an IC4A-qualifying standard of 1:56.09. Teammates Brendan McGill(1:56.66) and Owen Concaugh (1:56.70) finished second and third, respectively.
- Nick Pacelli showed off his speed in the 1,000-meter run, finishing first with an IC4A-qualifying time of 2:29.36. William Melchionni sped to the finish line first in the 400-meter dash in 50.63.
- Charlie Scales (500m), C.J. Falcioni (weight throw), and Micah Simms (long jump) each won their respective event.
- Bucknell ranks in the top-five of the Patriot League in nine events.
- The Bison rank 12th in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
Patriot League Indoor Championships History
- Bucknell is looking to capture its first indoor title since 2012. The Bison have claimed four PL indoor titles in program history (1991-93, 2012).
- The Bison finished fourth in the nine-team field last season.
- Lombardo earned Patriot League Field Athlete of the Meet honors after placing first in both the high jump and long jump at last year's Patriot League Championships.
- Drew Dorflinger had quite the outing at last year's PL championships earning a top finish in the 5,000-meter run (14:22.24) and placing in the top-five in the 3,000-meter run (8:20.09). His 5,000m time is the sixth-fastest in program history. He became the fourth Bison in school history to earn PL Male Rookie of the Meet honors and the first since Chris Sacks in 2011 following his great performances.
- Two current Bison track members earned first-team honors at last season's Patriot League Championships. Nicholas Lombardo earned first team (high jump, long jump) and Drew Dorflinger did too (5,000m).
- Jeffrey Brown has made tremendous strides and growth from last year. His highest finish at the 2017 PL championships was 10th in the 60-meter dash (7.04). He broke that time in the first indoor meet of this season back on Dec. 2, at the Bison opener when he ran 6.88. His run moved him up to fourth on Bucknell's all-time-top-10 list. Brown currently has the seventh fastest 60m in the PL this season.
- Bucknell is hosting the PL Indoor Championships for the eighth time. The Bison won the meet on their home track in 1993 and 2012, and they have never finished lower than third place at Gerhard Fieldhouse.
