Buckley Was Joined on the Academic All-Patriot League Team by Jenna Farmer
LEWISBURG, Pa. – It's been quite a week for Bucknell senior Colleen Buckley. She won the Patriot League Women's Cross Country title on Saturday, and on Friday she was named the Patriot League Women's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She was joined on the Academic All-Patriot League Team by teammate Jenna Farmer.
Bucknell has been nearly as dominant in the league's academic awards as it has been on the course in recent years. The Bison have now won four of the past five Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards in women's cross country. Katie Jessee won the award in 2014, Nora Adams won it in 2015, and Christine Bendzinki received the honor in 2017.
Buckley, an animal behavior major with a 3.61 GPA, is now a five-time Academic All-Patriot League selection in cross country and track and field. A Dean's List student, she is a six-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
Buckley's Patriot League title was her first and secured her third All-League honor. She finished in the top four in each of the last three league meets.
Farmer landed a spot on the Academic All-Patriot League Team for the second straight year. A cell biology/biochemistry major with a 3.75 GPA, she is a Dean's List student and a six-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
Farmer finished 11th at the Patriot League Championships, earning a spot on the All-Patriot League Second Team for the second straight year.
The Academic All-Patriot League Team is in its ninth season. Bucknell leads the conference with 14 selections, while Navy has the second most with 10.
Bucknell will run at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships at Penn State on Friday, Nov. 9.
