10/15/2018 12:15:00 PM | Men's Lacrosse
LEWISBURG, Pa. – Head coach Frank Fedorjaka announced the Bucknell men's lacrosse team's freshman class on Monday.
The class includes five attackers, four defensemen, two midfielders, one long-stick midfielder, one faceoff man and one goalkeeper. The student-athletes hail from eight American states and one Canadian province: Maryland (3), New Jersey (3), Connecticut (2), Colorado, Georgia, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania and Ontario.
In 2018, the Bison finished 11-4 overall and captured a share of the Patriot League regular-season title by going 7-1 in conference action. They reached the double digits in victories for the sixth time in Fedorjaka's tenure as head coach and most notably knocked off eventual national champion Yale (9-8 OT) and then No. 6 Loyola (12-11) on the road. They rose as high as 10th in both the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Coaches' Poll and Inside Lacrosse Maverik Media Listing, their best national ranking since the 2013 campaign.
Bucknell returns only one of its six 2018 All-Patriot League selections in senior midfielder Reed Malas, who is also a two-time Academic All-Patriot League honoree. The Bison need to replace their top three point producers from a year ago in Third Team All-American Will Sands, Honorable Mention All-American Sean O'Brien and Connor O'Hara. Sands graduated as Bucknell's record holder in career assists (141) and single-season assists (55, 2018) as well as second all-time in career points (243).
