About the Bison/Last Time Out
- Bucknell is set to host its third home meet of the season.
- The Bison last competed at the Nittany Lion Challenge, facing some top- tier NCAA institutions, including Connecticut, #8 Virginia Tech, Cornell, Georgetown, Maryland, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Villanova, and Point Park.
- Nicholas Lombardo led the bison with two fourth-place finishes in the high jump and long jump. He qualified for IC4As in the high jump by clearing 6-9, while placing fourth in the long jump with a leap of 23-1 ½.
- In one of the toughest meets in his early college track career, freshman Alex Dessoye finished eighth in the 400-meter dash with a personal-best time of 49.34, just missing the IC4A standard by 14 one-hundredths of a second.
- Jeffrey Brown had another stellar meet earning an eighth place finish in the 60m dash and an fifth-place finish in the 200-meter dash. Brown clocked a 6.98 in the 60m and a 22.45 in the 200m, which was 10 one-hundredths of a second faster than his 22.55 split at the Bison opener to begin the season.
- Jacob Stupak had quite the outing in the 3000-meter run finishing sixth with a time of 8:21.17 which was good enough to qualify for IC4As. It was also a new personal best for him by 20 seconds, beating his split of 8:41.52 from last season.
- Nicholas Marino and Matthew Fay both qualified for IC4As in the pole vault, clearing 15-09 ¾.
- Robert Dessoye finished 13th in the 600-meter run and split a best time of 1:22.29.
Last Year at the Gulden Invitational
- The Bison won eight events at the Gulden Invitational last season, winning the team title for a fifth consecutive year since changing to a scored meet in 2012.
- Lombardo set the school record in the high jump at the meet, recording a leap of 6-11. He also won the long jump with a mark of 23-3 ¼.
- Adam Mszanksi won the pole vault, clearing 15-3, Luke Gugliano won the 3,000m in 8:38.65.
Quote from Head Coach Kevin Donner
" We are exctied for our first scored meet of the season. Delaware's women look very good and we expect it to be a close meet with them. Shippensburg's men are always tough. Being one month away from league championships, we want to see who is progressing and who can compete in a pressure situation."
Up Next
- A group of Bison will travel back to Penn State to compete in the Penn State National Invitational, while another group will remain in Lewisburg to host the Bison Open. Both meets are set for Jan. 26-27.
