LEWISBURG, Pa. – One week after earning Fifth Quarter Fresh Bison Athlete of the Week honors, junior Nicholas Lombardo has been tabbed M-F Athletic Patriot League Male Field Athlete of the Week following a strong performance at the Gulden Invitational.
Lombardo helped the Bison win the team title for the sixth consecutive season, scoring in all three events he competed in. The captain won the long jump, beating out 17 participants with an IC4A-qualifying distance of 23-4, now the top jump in the Patriot League this season. He was the runner-up in the high jump with a leap of 6-8 ¼, while scoring in the triple jump with a mark of 44-2 ½, the 14th-best in the league. Following the meet, he earned Gulden Invitational Male Field MVP honors.
Lombardo has now recorded three first-place finishes this season and has won a jumping event in his last five home meets.
A group of Bison will be traveling to Penn State to compete at the Penn State National Invitational, while another group will remain in Lewisburg to host the Bison Open. Both meets are set for Friday and Saturday.
