Kate Scott Named Female Runner of the Week; Bison Picked First in Preseason Poll

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell women's cross country senior Kate Scott was named Patriot League M-F Athletic Female Runner of the Week, announced by the league on Wednesday. In addition, the Patriot League released its Preseason Poll, and the Bison women were tabbed preseason favorites.
Scott opened the 2016 season Friday with an individual victory at the Bison Open. She completed the three-mile course in 16:51, 22 seconds faster than the second place finisher. The Bucknell women ran well in the season opening meet, as the team occupied the top 11 spots in the field.
The defending Patriot League champions were picked to finish first on the 10-team ballot with 158 points and 14 first-place votes. The Bison return four all-league selections from last year's team, including Scott, Sarah Chandler, Christine Bendzinski and Christine O'Kane.
Navy was picked second with 142 points and four first-place votes, followed by Boston University with 126. Holy Cross was tabbed fourth with 106 points, followed by Army West Point (100), Lehigh (88), American (78), Loyola (45), Lafayette (37) and Colgate (20) to round out the poll.
Bucknell returns to action Saturday to compete at the 30th Annual Running Fit-Detroit Titans Invitational. The women are scheduled to run at 11:15 a.m.
