Gronbeck Named PL Cross Country Female Rookie of the Week

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell women's cross country freshman Lauren Gronbeck has been named Patriot League M-F Athlete Female Rookie Runner of the Week, announced by the conference on Monday, following a strong performance at the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational.
Gronbeck earns her first Patriot League Rookie of the Week honor after finishing 54th out of 126 runners, completing the 5k race in 18:38. In a race that featured three Patriot League schools, including American and Loyola, Gronbeck was the top Patriot League rookie finisher.
Christine Bendzinski was an honorable mention after placing 16th with a time of 17:40. She was the top Patriot League runner by nine spots in the individual standings.
Bucknell, ranked ninth in the Mid-Atlantic region, finished seventh out of 13 teams at the event, recording a score of 187. Bucknell finished ahead of ACC program Clemson (192), the 13th ranked team in the Southeast region, Charlotte (207), Appalachian State (219), American (340), Loyola and Hofstra (388).
The Bison are in action this weekend at the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh.
