LEWISBURG, Pa. – Three-time All-Patriot League selection Julie'n Davenport (Paulsboro, N.J./Paulsboro) was recently named to the Athlon Sports Preseason FCS All-America Team. The offensive lineman was one of two Patriot League players cited along with Fordham RB Chase Edmonds.
The 6-7, 315-pound Davenport is a three-year starter at left tackle for the Bison. He is the only member of the rising senior class to play in all 33 games over the last three years and he was voted to serve as team captain for a second consecutive year this coming fall. He is Bucknell's first two-time captain since Josh Eden in 2010 and 2011.
A Second Team All-Patriot League selection as a rookie in 2013, Davenport has been a First Team All-Patriot League choice each of the last two years. Last fall, he became the first Bison offensive lineman to be named First Team All-Patriot League in back-to-back years since Lucas Carlaw in 1998 and 1999. Davenport was a Preseason All-Patriot League selection prior to both the 2014 and 2015 campaigns.
Following a strong junior year, Davenport was named a Second Team STATS FCS All-American.
Davenport earned the team's Stuart M. Smith Award as its top newcomer in 2013, the Most Improved Offensive Player Award at the conclusion of 2015 spring practice, and he took home the John Campana Award as the team's outstanding offensive lineman last year.
Davenport and his Bison teammates are scheduled to report for preseason camp Aug. 3 and the season opener is slated for Sept. 3 at Marist. Bucknell's first home contest is Sept. 17 vs. Cornell.
