LEWISBURG, Pa. – Seniors Ross Pirnie and Grant Reynolds won league titles to lead the Bucknell men's track and field team to a fourth-place finish at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships Saturday at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium. The Bison racked up nine all-conference honors during the two-day meet.
Navy tallied 236 points to run away with the team title. Army West Point finshed second with 160 points, followed by Boston University (143) and Bucknell (125.5).
"Our men really stepped up nicely this weekend and we scored a few more points than we projected," said head coach Kevin Donner. "Depth and a few injuries prevented us from competing for a trophy, but our men really competed to their full potential and our program is set up very well for the upcoming years. Our leadership and team dynamic was as good as ever."
In the first track event of the afternoon, Pirnie came from behind to take home the 3,000-meter steeplechase title. The senior crossed the line in 9:05.13, which is a new personal-record, to earn First-Team All-Patriot League honors.
